Shrewsbury Streets

There is a newsagent, Claremont News, on Claremont Street, which is a few minutes walk from the apartment, open from 7 am Monday to Saturday and 8am on Sunday for newspapers, milk, juice etc

In the town centre we have a Little Waitrose, Coop supermarket and a Marks & Spencer food hall. Tesco and Sainsburys are on out of town retail parks but Asda whilst being slightly out of the main centre is just a pleasant walk along the river from the apartment.

There are lots of lovely food shops in the town. Our favourite delis are Appleyards (also visit their sister business ‘Cook and Carve’ in the market) and MJ Deli. Also visit the pannier market which is a street away from the apartment and has an amazing range of stalls selling fresh meat, fruit and vegetables, with a fish stall, a bakery stall plus lots of other treats – don’t miss the Women’s Institute stall on Saturday morning for home baking, preserves and pickles!

Nationally renowned wine merchant Tanners has its main retail outlet in Shrewsbury town centre in a lovely cellar shop, a great place to visit while you are in Shrewsbury.

If you don’t feel like cooking there is plenty of choice of bars and restaurants.

If shopping is your thing then there is lots of fun to be had in Shrewsbury. Many of the national retail chains have branches in Shrewsbury but the real treat is to visit the many local independent retailers, dotted around the town, many in historic buildings, in lovely quaint little streets and passages, which are called shuts, in Shrewsbury. The town centre is not large and it is very easy to spend several hours exploring all the delights on offer.
