How to Find Us

Arriving by rail

The apartment is about 10 minutes walk from the train station. There is a taxi rank at the station. Alternatively walk across the station car park towards the traffic lights at the station car park exit. Turn left up the hill, Castle Street. Follow this road until you reach pedestrian lights at the top of the hill by Barclays Bank on your left. Cross here into the pedestrianised area, Pride Hill, and walk down the hill. At the bottom of the hill turn left and after about 10 yards you will see an open paved area (The Square) on the opposite side of the road, immediately opposite Ask restaurant. Cross the road and walk across the Square, going to the right of the lovely old building in the centre of the Square (The Old Market Hall). At the other side of the Square turn right down Market Street. You will see Loch Fyne restaurant on the left, take the left turn at the restaurant, onto Swan Hill. When you go past the Admiral Benbow pub you will see The Old Police Station on the right.

If you bring your bikes on the train the easiest way to explain your route is to suggest that you follow the above walking route albeit you will need to walk in the pedestrianised areas. It’s just easier to explain this route!

Arriving by car

From the A5 (West) and A 483 (Wales), entering Shrewsbury over the Welsh Bridge

From the A5 (from the Oswestry, Wrexham, Chester direction) take the first exit as you arrive at first of the roundabout on the outskirts of Shrewsbury. The A483 from mid-Wales also joins the A5 at the roundabout. From the A483 you take the second exit from the roundabout. Follow signs for the town centre. Go straight across the small roundabout. At the lights get in the left hand lane but turn right - you need to come over the lights in the left hand lane so that you can get immediately in the left hand lane to take the left filter to the town centre. This road is called The Mount. At the bottom of The Mount you will get to Frankwell roundabout. Take the second exit. Follow the road round, turning right at the traffic lights, over the Welsh Bridge. As you come over the bridge you have to follow the road to the left onto Smithfield Road. As soon as you are on Smithfield Road move over to the righthand lane and turn first right on to Roushill, by the Salopian pub. Keep in the righthand lane, going straight on on the right bend up a short slope, and then turn left at the junction onto Mardol which becomes Claremont Street. At the bottom of Claremont Street turn left on to Barker Street then take the next right onto St John’s Hill. Morgans Bar is on the corner. At the next junction turn left and then left again when the road meets Swan Hill, by the Coach and Horses pub. The entry to the Old Police Station is immediately on the left, under the archway.

From the A5 (East)/M54, entering Shrewsbury over the English Bridge

At the first roundabout on the outskirts of Shrewsbury take the first exit. At the next roundabout take the fourth exit onto the A5064 London Road. At the next roundabout take the second exit. At the next roundabout again take the second exit. You will see the cinema and then Asda, both on the right. At the next junction get in the right hand lane to turn left but move straight into the centre lane when you cross into the new road. As you pass under the rail bridge your lane becomes the left hand land and you turn left, at the pedestrian lights, over the river, onto the English Bridge. You will have been following signs for the town centre up to this point. When you have gone over the English Bridge, at the bottom of Wyle Cop, take the left fork to follow Town Walls. This junction can be confusing! Look for the Sleep Shop on the corner of the junction and go to the left hand side of this shop, where you will immediately go through pedestrian lights. Don’t take the left turn, on the Cornhouse corner, but if you accidentally do then the road leads to a car park so just turn round and come out again. Once you are on Town Walls Swan Hill is the third turn on the right, a sharp turn, immediately opposite the Shrewsbury Girls High School. Follow Swan Hill until you see the Coach and Horses pub. The entry to the Old Police Station is then immediately on the left, under the archway.
